The opening lines of a liberal, Washington Post column:
Time to trade in those red #MAGA caps, Trumpkins. If you want your headgear to fit in with the latest White House fashions, invest in some tinfoil.
And the concluding lines of a conservative, Washington Post column:
Day by day, Republicans are lowering their standards of sanity to defend an administration seized by conspiracy thinking. If they do not stand up to this trend, they will be defining lunacy down.
These assessments in no way reflect a bipartisan consensus, but they do represent bilateral agreement (to the extent that the second assessment exemplifies a more authentically conservative view, rather than radically pseudoconservative opinion). If the two were to join forces in 2018, the tinfoil lunacy would convert decisively to minority congressional status. I continue to hope (perhaps foolishly) for such an electoral coalition.
