I don't see why you are so aghast at the notion of re-training the Iraqi police. Why just last weekend I saw an old movie with Gregory Peck wherein he took over the 198th Bomber Group running daylight bombing raids on German ball-bearing factories. You see, their moral was really low, and the former commander was guilty of "over-identification with his men"(!) So Gregory Pecks took over, and boy-oh-boyo did he whip those men into shape. They were re-trained, re-organised and right on target from 9,000 feet. Nine thousand feet! After Peck got through with them, they weren't afraid of nothin'! Certainly not death, which Peck said they should welcome. That really inspired them.

One caveat or cavail, which had me quailing, though. Peck's command style seemed to consist of mostly taking deep drags on an unfiltered cigarette, and slamming doors. Both of those should be avoided by the trainers. One is bad manners, and the other is dangerous to their health. I don't want a bunch of tobacco-stained boors enforcing the law in Iraq, and neither do you, Mr. Carpenter!

Or do you?

Mooser, Saturday Night Live is missing one of its writers!! Get back to work!

Is our Iraqis learnin? No? I gueuss we need to put more food on their families.

Mooser is not too far off the money, in that the neocon architects of US policy get all their really good ideas from the movies. Really. Because movies are just like real life, right? Notice how often the neocon spokespeople/apologists use movies and TV (But-but-Jack Bauer tortures people on 24!) to make their points.

I could show you examples from several books.

We are well and truly down the rabbit hole.
