OT, and you probably have already read it, but this is actually a BFD, imho:

""WEST POINT, NY — Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates bluntly told an audience of West Point cadets on Friday that it would be unwise for the United States to ever fight another war like Iraq or Afghanistan, and that the chances of carrying out a change of regime in that fashion again are slim.

“In my opinion, any future defense secretary who advises the president to again send a big American land army into Asia or into the Middle East or Africa should ‘have his head examined,’ as General MacArthur so delicately put it,” Mr. Gates told an assembly of Army cadets here.""

Ha.

Ha ha.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Suck it up, you old fools who voted for the Republicans! You asked for it, now you get it.

Ha!

Bobfr, Where is Joe Biden when you need him. This is indeed a BFD.

The problem is that Gates is going to retire. I hope whoever takes command feels the same way. Thanks.

This is beautiful. What a great thing to have observed. Mouths hitting the floor. You want to take away our medicare?

I recieve both Medicare and Social Security and am very willing to take some cuts...but I am very tired of budgets being balanced on the backs of the middle class (in my case lower middle class) so the extremely wealthy can avoid paying higher taxes. Read the latest copy of Mother Jones to see how we are being screwed!

Robert Lipscomb

When Reagan told you that tax cuts pay for themselves, he lied. Return to Clinton era tax rates and and make a modest increase in FICA. The budget will be balanced.

We know you speak the truth, RL. The problem is in getting many on the right to realize and accept the reality that tax cuts don't pay for themselves, contributions to FICA need to be increased, and the defense budget can be cut without sacrificing national security.
