He's back, with no shame but endless forgiveness from those hellbent on profitably dismissing his congenital corruption as temporary overzealousness.
Ralph Reed, refreshed from serial bouts of grossly indecent lobbying ties to the malignant felon Jack Abramoff, has regrouped and formed the "Faith and Freedom Coalition" -- a mutant enlargement, he hopes, of the old Christian Coalition; a diseased hybrid of evangelical thumpers and tea-partying scolds.
Reed, of course, hasn't evolved one bit: he's as ethically bankrupt and intellectually unscrupulous as ever, a conscienceless mountebank who now casts his old conservative pals' national debt as a moral crisis of liberalism's making. The NY Times caught up with him in Lady Lake, Fla. -- where "he roused a crowd of retirees ... with talk of restoring Christian values and bringing down President Obama" -- to do a profile story, the reading of which is merely nauseating, but the writing of which must have been an appallingly wretched ordeal.
Somehow, the Times stretched the Reed-update to two online pages, even though there's nothing new to report. He's the same filthy infidel he always was -- an incontrovertible assessment that drips from his every, utterly self-interested cyberword.
But I did wish to pass along the names of those who will be attending Reed's "second annual conference in Washington on Friday and Saturday," in case you missed it, because the politically star-studded lineup reveals how the GOP cares not one whit about distancing itself from known little worms of vast corruption: Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann, Donald Trump, John Boehner, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, and the Family Research Council's Tony Perkins -- they'll all be there, with "talk of restoring Christian values and bringing down [the impeccably Christian] President Obama."
I think the main root cause of all this is Reed. He should be taken out from his position, then only some thing best can happen.
