It's almost insulting to our collective intelligence that no-news news like this, from ThinkProgress, either becomes news or is treated in any way as news:
EXPOSED: Romney Campaign Silenced Gay Spokesman To Avoid Confronting Hate Groups, Misled Reporters
Exposed? Confirmed, perhaps. But no one with any familiarity with the cowering Mitt Romney ever doubted that he caved to homophobes and hate-mongers and then agreed with his campaign flacks that they should lie about it.
[T]he campaign was clearly seeking to mislead the media to downplay Grenell’s departure. "It’s not that the campaign cared whether Ric Grenell was gay," an anonymous Republican told the [NY] Times. "They believed this was a nonissue. But they didn’t want to confront the religious right."
And they didn't. And they won't.
If they ever did, now that would be news.
Otherwise, we shall simply assume that anything coming out the Romney camp is a lie, a distortion, or a cover-up. It's who Mitt Romney is.
