"... for them to suggest that Barack Obama owns any responsibility for our chronic polarization is an inexcusably, unendurably dishonest display of nothing but cheap hackery."

Ah, those lovable Clintons! As you wrote, PM--"standard-issue political horseshit"!

You are way too kind. I saw Hillary's true colors when she voted for the Iraq war and did all she could to discredit Obama. I find it, at this point, imposssible to consider supporting her presidential bid.

They're baaaack. Yes it is just political horseshit. Of the purest malodorous variety. I doubt if it makes any difference to the president though. Everyone was happy to have the Clinton's help in securing a second term for the president. Now it is time to pay the piper. The president will not be running for office. But Hillary will and there is no surer sign than this.

The Clintons have to realize a very important fact: they criticize Barack Obama at their own peril. Maybe the Beltway has some contempt for him, but in the real world outside Washington, Barack Obama has the support of a majority of democrats. The army of volunteers who helped elect Barack Obama president TWICE won't accept to see him criticized in such a cynical manner.

Maybe the Clintons and their friends need to be brought back to reality: the democratic party doesn't belong to them. The Obama coalition is a force to reckon with.

I've stayed suspicious of the Clintons for years, despite the fact that Hillary seemed, "seemed" loyal to the President when she was SOS. Sadly, it looks like I was right.

I wish Joe Biden was younger...

This isn't meant as a purely ad hominem attack, but, -- a person generally does something to earn themselves a nickname like “Tricky Dick” or …”Slick Willie”.

Now I am angry. Again. I believe that Bill Clinton has always served himself at the expense of the Democratic Party, and it's becoming apparent to me that so does Hillary.

I had hoped that Obama would end Clintonism and the reign of the DLC. He still has another couple of years to do it, I suppose.

The more I hear about Hillary Clinton, the less I care about Joe Biden's age. RUN, Uncle Joe! I'm with you.

What's interesting to me is that everything attributed to the Clintons in this WP article might have come out of the mouth of President Obama himself. It is exactly the same message on the need for bipartisanship and eschewing ideology for pragmatic compromise. There is not an iota of difference in the messages. Yet the Clintons evoke a visceral distaste that surprises me.
What is perhaps most interesting is this: "But for them to suggest that Barack Obama owns any responsibility for our chronic polarization is an inexcusably, unendurably dishonest display of nothing but cheap hackery." Replace the name Barack Obama with the name Bill Clinton and exactly the same phrase would apply to his administration.

I don't think the comments were a rebuke of Obama at all. A generic defense of insiderism and a crack on median income that clearly belongs to GOP policies.

They may far far from perfect, but at least they were mostly competent.

Obama has been a sound leader but a terrible politician, and the job demands performance on both sides of the ball....
