Dana Milbank: "History will record that on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary met to consider the impeachment of Barack Hussein Obama."
Yep, they sure did, and I watched the repeat performance of it on C-Span last night. Milbank clarifies that "They didn’t use that word, of course. Republican leaders frown on such labeling because it makes the House majority look, well, crazy."
But--of course--they didn't need to use the I-word in yesterday's committee coven to look crazy. Their monomanical lunacy came through loud and clear, just as it was.
Officially the Judiciary Committee met to ponder President Obama's executive transgressions, as defined by the committee's Republican majority, which meant anything that President Obama ever did that they disagreed with, which meant everything that President Obama has ever done.
The Republican performance--mostly preening--was amusing in a kind of pixilated childlike way. But it was also deeply disturbing, since it was impossible to completely, mentally block out the reality that these grown toddlers effectively hold all power in American government.
We are, it is said, a nation of laws. And yet yesterday there sat the House Judiciary Committee, in all its infantile lawlessness.
Sweet mother of God, we've a long road back to "normalcy."
At this point, it would probably be better if we just let actual toddlers do the legislating.

Props for the quotes around "normalcy".
Actual toddlers are indeed cuter than house GOPers, even in their tantrums. Government of the toddlers, by the toddlers, for the toddlers shall not perish from the earth. Maybe the earth will perish instead.
