Today, Hillary Clinton took questions from the press.
One of them she deftly avoided. "Do you believe the world is better off without Saddam Hussein?" That's a minefield, and she danced around it by answering an unasked question. (She said only, again, that her Iraq war vote was a mistake.)
But the minefield remains intact, since a yes answer would re-situate her among the Iraq-happy neocons, and a no answer would align her with the Baathists. Either would be played up by the opposition with almost equal joy.
So how does one answer such a question? One doesn't.
