My teenage daughter scored 93% for Bernie and 93% for Hillary, although she prefers Bernie. I scored 96% for Bernie and 93% for Hillary. And there's a 95% chance, I'd wager, that you'll score either my daughter's score or mine. If you care to find out, take the short test.
90 Hillary and 88 Bernie. I suspect the slight difference is attributable to the asinine question about running heavy trucks on natural gas or alternative fuels. I have no big objection to subsidies for alternative fuels for that is how the technology will be worked out. Running heavy trucks on natural gas is one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard. Diesel is hard to set on fire, natural gas in that quantity is a bomb in an accident.

Unrelated but interesting. Webb is in. I could have sworn his recent comments about the Confederate flag indicated he was not contemplating a run. This should be interesting.

99% Bernie, 88% Hillary. I would vote enthusiastically for Bernie, but there would be a bit of nose-holding going on with a Hillary vote.

He seems to think there's a path to the 2016 Democratic nomination through the backwaters of Appalachia and the Deep South.
Pretty sure he's wrong about that, but he's welcome to give it a shot.

94 and 93 (HRC and BS).

98% Bernie Sanders 90% Hillary Clinton
Posted by: Anne J | July 02, 2015 at 05:29 PM
I got 98% for Sanders (93% Clinton, 79% O'Malley). I like him a lot but I didn't think I'd score quite that high. What I think is interesting is that I am a strong civil libertarian, yet I got only 31% for Rand Paul -- mostly on foreign affairs. Not that this comes as a surprise; the man is a fraud. But I scored higher with Mike Huckabee (41%) and Donald Trump (36%), who I agree with on healthcare, apparently. I scored lowest with Marco Rubio (1%) -- you know, the "moderate."
Useless as they are, I love tests like this!

Forgive me, but as I said: I love these kinds of tests. I took it again, answering the way I thought a typical lazy, but not especially evil, online libertarian would answer. You know: vaguely anti-war, inflation paranoid, local control obsessed, anti-surveillance, anti-regulation, anti-Obamacare, etc. And Rand Paul did win with 89%. But Clinton came in second with 71%. The rest were all tightly packed in the 60s and 50s, except for Fiorina and O'Malley at the bottom with 43%.

98% Bernie, 89% Hillary. No real surprises there,
but 27% Ben Carson? WTF? That's going to give me a complex!

Bernie: 93, HRC: 78 Do I win the socialist prize?
Posted by: Bob | July 02, 2015 at 07:24 PM
91% Bernie, 79% Hillary, though it's hard to know, since most of the time when it compared my position to hers, it said, "Unable to determine the candidate's position on this issue." Yeah, that sounds about right.
Posted by: Jason | July 02, 2015 at 07:35 PM
No, I suspect ohollern, posting immediately before you, would take that one. Admirable!
Posted by: Gary on the Left Coast | July 02, 2015 at 08:32 PM
Nearly as socialist as ohollern, I can proudly report.
Bernie: 97
Hillary: 86
O'Malley: 76
Agreed with Jimiskin on holding my nose in the booth in 2016.
Excellent post, PM!

I'd like to see a similar test wherein each question would be followed by the 4 or 5 frontrunners of each party and the opportunity to rate each candidate according to how important you think each issue is to them... and whether you believe them at all when they espouse it.
Posted by: ren | July 03, 2015 at 08:26 AM
But, but I have a 15 point spread and ohollern has a still admirable 9 points. That makes me 40% more socialist. ;)

I think it is very interesting that Sanders is perceived as being the ultimate in socialism. That isn't at all true. Socialists and socialism tend to be internationalist in outlook and transcend nationalism. American socialism tends to have its nativist and nationalist elements. You may trust me that socialists in other countries would have some serious questions for Bernie.
Posted by: Peter G | July 03, 2015 at 09:49 AM
As a red-blooded American I'd take what we can get. After 75 years of socialist bashing it's not like other countries here.
Posted by: Bob | July 03, 2015 at 10:28 AM
No it isn't. And I forgive Bernie for what he must do to ignite the passions of his supporters. I'd do exactly the same if I were in his shoes. I expect that's why I wound up giving him pretty good marks on this poll. Baby steps. First restore socialism to respectability. You can refine what it means later.
Posted by: Peter G | July 03, 2015 at 11:03 AM
I like that, Bob... and grant you the win!
Posted by: Gary on the Left Coast | July 03, 2015 at 02:39 PM
96% Bernie 87% Hillary 5% Cruz
Sounds about right - Still expect Hillary to win, but glad to see Bernie, O'Malley, and Webb in the race
