At the rate they (as well as the GOP's dynamics) are hurling by us, polls are pretty much obsolete within 24 hours. Anyway, in case you didn't see yesterday's, from CNN/ORC (which gets an A- grade from Nate Silver):
Trump is still the party's front-runner with 24% support. That, though, is an 8 percentage point decrease from earlier in the month when a similar poll had him at 32%.
Is Trump Rot setting in? I suspect so.
But then again, perhaps his second act will be an even more flamboyant reprisal of his first act. I hope so.
If not, at least we have Carly as temporary backup. Her blithering distortions and visceral hostilities are quite appealing to the GOP base, thus she now (well, yesterday) squeaks by the pathologically befuddled Ben Carson, 15 to 14 percent.
In the eighth paragraph of CNN's poll-reporting we find Jeb Bush mentioned (at 9 percent). Jeb Bush. You remember him, that guy from Florida? Brother and son of 1.5 U.S. presidents? The establishment's frontrunner? Give it a moment. The name will come back to you, like Whit Bissell's in an old B&W film.
Oh, and now tied at "asterisk" are former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore and sitting Wisconsin governor Scott Walker. All the above, just so I could write that.
