From the Guardian:
"Iowa’s public universities would need to consider political party affiliation when hiring new faculty members, under a bill proposed by a Republican state senator.
"State senator Mark Chelgren said the measure was an attempt to counter the liberal slant at the state’s three public universities.
"'My goal isn’t to eliminate speech on the other side of the equation, but we have to have balanced speech,' said Chelgren, from Ottumwa."
From me:
Dear Senator Chelgren,
I can only assume you support equal time — liberal and conservative, left and right, sane and insane — on talk radio and Fox News, then?
Please advise, for I am,
Your humble & stupefied servant,

The senator's reply, 8:35 p.m., which I'm sorry to say escapes my comprehension:
Lol,
Ya it’s called NPR and Public television.
Government keeps paying for liberal information and the free market pays for real information.
Senator Mark Chelgren
