December 25, 2019

From Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," I offer this: I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.

Well done.

Thanks for the update, it truly warmed my heart this morning. Perhaps it’s the anonymity combined, ironically, with the sense of community that the comments section on this site provides, but this is one of the few places where I feel safe to admit that I find Christmas to be a rather depressing affair. The rank materialism and commercialism seems to embody the worst impulses of America—and yet we’re supposed to cheer and celebrate.

In any case, could you perhaps continue to promote your friend’s charity on a more regular basis? With a social worker’s salary, I don’t have much to give, but I’d be happy to contribute a small amount every month or so, and I’d bet others here would too. Having spent a fair amount of time in the more impoverished corners of the globe, I know how far a little can go.

Thanks, and may the day be full of warmth and love!
