If it's not about him, then he's completely clueless. On this or any other subject.

I would make that argument general about cluelessness and apply it to the GOP. During the Obama Administration and the Republican primary that gave us Trump an interesting statistic emerged. That was that as many as seventy percent of air missions in the Iraq and Syrian areas were returning with their munitions unexpended. This outraged many of the Republican pinheads. That wasn’t going to happen under Republicans, nosirree! They were going to bomb something every time.
Fighting insurgencies embedded in civilian populations is about the toughest mission there is. The hardest part being not recruiting for your enemies by collateral damage. The Republican policy seems to be to do only that.

When it comes to foreign wars, especially against "People Who Don't Look Like Us" or "People Who Don't Worship The Way We Do", today's GOP really only has one desirable end in mind: "Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius." Which comes down to us from the Massacre at Béziers, an event that took place on 22 July 1209, during the Albigensian Crusade. It's colloquially translated as "Kill 'em all, Let God sort them out." Available on tee shirts as a statement of how "enlightened" one is since the Vietnam War.

Bonus: Trump has fired everyone who might have a clue about what's going on and how to respond.

Perfectly stated!!!

If you hang around the right people you learn stuff.

Good point. It's amateur hour in the Middle East.
