Before launching a dizzying, undifferentiated barrage of outraged Fox News videos — live, see-it-then-or-now clips from the network he has long lambasted as a daffy opponent — Trump took to some fevered scribbling on Truth Social.
He is an innocent man. But that's not even the half of it.
The motherlode of his troubles, he wrote, stem only from a disgraceful district attorney in New York City. Every thing that is properly hostile to Trump is a disgrace and every one who even mildly opposes him is disgraceful. (I swear, someday I'm going to mail the scofflaw a thesaurus and insert a note — since my lexical gift would be a waste; he doesn't crack books — suggesting ignominious, scandalous, dishonorable or one of dozens of other recriminations as refreshing variations on his repetitive theme.)
He also reposted remarks from every right-wing crackpot you can think of, from Kari Lake to Tommy Tuberville, from Elise Stefanik to Paul Gosar. MAGAworld is most unhappy; it's beside itself that this country has been brought so low, and by a disgraceful district attorney.
In posting what he has posted — and shall continue to post — Trump's intent is not so much strategically legal or political as it is, once again, criminal. He's fanning the inferno of far-right rancor, resentments and animosities, he's egging on violence, he's begging for blowups in Manhattan — and elsewhere, anywhere.
He is inciting terrorism, of which the right is already America's leading offender. He's quite aware of the Second Amendment loonies in his criminal camp, and he's requesting their presence front and center, their squalid agitation and outright brutality.
As are the crackpots he reposted. Next up, perhaps, Tucker & Friends' call for a different kind of "replacement" theory: the euphemistically couched elimination of a disgraceful district attorney. Trump's stratagem is damn near biblical. John 14:2: In my Father's house there are many rooms. And each of Trump's is crowded with feral hotheads and nutjobs of the worst sort.
He's counting on MAGAworld to extract his bloated butt from the fires, with its own. His bet is likely a good one, given the odds that his NY prosecution will proceed ungently. The upside? Yet another incitement-to-riot indictment of Trump.
