"Twitter Blue" — Elon Musk's desperate scam, which now has more than a half-million scammed subscribers — will, in two days, abolish the "legacy blue" checkmarks.
Reports The Wall Street Journal in breaking, above-the-fold, blockbuster news, placed right between equally merited stories of the Taiwan and banking crises: "Users with legacy verifications can pay for a Twitter Blue subscription to keep their check marks. Organizations, including businesses, nonprofits and government agencies, can pay at least $1,000 a month to verify their accounts."
Adds the Journal: "Any user can pay as little as $7 a month to be verified through Twitter Blue and receive a blue check mark, along with other perks." (That should have come with an exclamation mark.)
You'll want to know what actor Jason Alexander, formerly of "Seinfeld," had to say about this. Which he said, where else, on Twitter, and which the Journal dutifully reported.
Friends, there are bigger issues in the 🌎than the blue verified ✔️next to my name on this account. But without it, anyone can allege to be me. So, if I lose that ✔️ know I will leave this platform. Anyone appearing with it=an imposter. I tell you this while I’m still official.

Credit to Alexander for his introductory line, at least.
Given the mounds of far-right trash I mostly stumble into on Twitter — from cretinous reactionaries I don't even follow, but Musk pushes them on me — the checkmarks really should be red.
