Uncle Billy

Up to this point, Presidents have missed the opportunity that a strict constructionist interpretation of the Constitution affords them with nominees, SCOTUS and otherwise. The role of the Senate is to "Advise and consent." Nowhere does the document say the Senate can kill a nomination. They have only two choices by a literal reading.

The Constitution? How quaint. And if Mitch actually cared, I'm sure he read the word "consent" as "kill if we damn well please."

Trump wasn't the only one to shatter norms. Much our government runs on tradition. And Mitch flushed more than 200 years of it. The irony, to put it charitably: Tradition is a fundamental plank of conservatism. When conservatism was conservatism, that is.
