CNN reports that at least 18 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike in central Gaza on Sunday. "Most of those killed and wounded were children, two health officials added. They fear the death toll could rise, as many are still missing, believed to be under the rubble."
The network acquired a video showing "the bodies of small children shrouded in blankets" as they were taken to Al-Aqsa hospital. Witnesses said a family home took a direct hit in the strike, which also damaged area buildings. The home was sheltering roughly 40 displaced relatives who had recently fled the southern city of Rafah.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu had said the day before that if his military proceeds with its offensive on Rafah, where 1.5 million displaced Palestinians are sheltering, there is "a lot of space" north of the city. Most immediately that would be central Gaza, where those dozens of mostly Palestinian children were just killed or wounded by Netanyahu's airstrikes.
