A few days ago, this post noted that a major significance of Kamala Harris' sudden sizable lead in Marquette's national polling was that it strongly suggested she was advancing in battleground states, which until then were mostly showing ties between her and Trump.
And that's essentially what was happening in the critical, competitive states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. So says the latest NY Times-Siena College poll, and Siena is among the most highly respected surveying operations in the country.
The earlier national poll of likely voters showed Harris with an 8-point lead, and was conducted 24 July to 1 August. The above gains, recorded from the 5th through the 9th of Aug., were probably occurring in late July — we just didn't have the state polling yet. (As best polling can confirm shifts in political preferences, that is.)
And Nate Cohn delivered this welcome news. "On question after question, the [Siena] poll finds that voters don’t seem to have any major reservations about her. A majority say that she’s honest and intelligent; that she brings the right kind of change and has the temperament to be president; and that she has a clear vision for the country. A majority doesn’t think she’s too far to the left, either."
Now if other state polling shows results similar to Siena's, I'll relax for a while. Part of my contentment will derive from knowing that Trump, somewhere, is have apoplectic fits about Kamala Harris' polling data.
One of my favorite things about the Harris/Walz ticket is that they are showing themselves as a clear contrast to the dark, bigoted, dishonest Trump/Vance ticket.
I love it when Tim Walz says that he will never forgive Trump and republicans for taking the joy out of politics. Perhaps people really are sick and tired of nine years of Trump's negative energy.

Another thing that drives Der Dear Orange Leader out of his tottering mind: crowd size. And last Friday a crowd of about 20,000 people stood in line in the Arizona Monsoon to get into the Harris/Walz rally. And at the same time, Captain Shitzinpantz couldn't half fill a 7,000 seat arena in Bozeman.

As I was saying...https://www.salon.com/2024/08/11/accuses-harris-of-using-ai-to-create-fake-crowds-at-campaign-events/

His overnight rant on Truth Social, complete with photo of Air Force Two with a huge crowd in front of it, accompanied by the claim that it was all AI and there was nobody there is clear evidence of a mind disconnected from reality. George Conway said this morning that we're witnessing his final mental decomposition.
