I jumped onto Twitter after posting my debate wrap-up last night. I wanted to see how the wingnut wankers were reacting to Trump's catastrophic 90 minutes.
I was not disappointed; they witnessed nothing less than a certified patriot on stage. He sent Kamala reeling into humiliating defensiveness and blew her away with his deep insights into what a failed nation America has become. And so soon after his expert management of it all in those altogether untroubled years of 2017 to 2021.
One thread of their comments stood out. They groaned that Trump had once again been victimized by the media, which is to say, the moderators. They were particularly pissed at David Muir and Linsey Davis' fact-checking of Trump. It seems not to have dawned on them that they fact-checked only Trump because he was the one sputtering flagrant lies.
There was also a humorous twist to their complaints about the debate's moderation. In claiming "rigged" unfairness by Muir and Davis they were unwittingly conceding that it cost Trump the debate — and this they did while simultaneously hailing his victory. But victims aren't winners.
