In CNN's flash poll of 605 registered voters (a low number for surveys), 63% said Kamala Harris "turned in a better performance." Notes CNN: "Prior to the debate, the voters were evenly split on which candidate would perform more strongly,"
Debate watchers "were 6 points likelier to be Republican-aligned than Democratic-aligned," which resulted in roughly 4% more GOP-leaning viewers than registered voters nationally. I assume this was done to overcome polling's historical undercount of Trump voters.
The Washington Post asked 25 participants in a spring poll of swing-state voters for their before-and-after reactions to the debate. All were undecided or "probably" voting for Harris or Trump beforehand. These among the more noteworthy.
"Do you agree with Harris's statement (memo to journalists: no apostrophe s when following word begins with s) on what kind of president America wants?"
"Trump said: 'We have a nation that is dying.' Do you agree?"
"Who made better arguments about how to handle the economy?" This one remains a stunner to me, now matter how many times I see the pro-Trump results.
"Did Trump's statement on immigration make sense to you?"
