Trump spent last evening in one of his usual pursuits: Fox News. He sat down with hard-boiled journalist Sean Hannity, who nevertheless shockingly allowed this one guest free rein. The guest took them, thereupon engaging another of his usual pursuits: reinventing reality.
His primary focus was on next week's debate, whose impartiality will be mangled and mauled by the evil host network of ABC. Well that's what he said; I'm just an evenhanded bystander who's reporting on this breaking news. “ABC is the worst network in terms of fairness. They are the most dishonest network, the meanest, the nastiest, but that was what I was presented with," said Trump, the poor thing.
Politico's Playbook notes what we're all familiarity with: "Before any political contest — whether an interview, an election, a debate — he trashes the rules as rigged against him. It’s his way of ensuring victory no matter what. If he wins, it was a heroic victory against a system stacked against him. But if he loses, he didn’t really lose because he never had a chance."
Well geez, how could he have a chance? ABC News' George Stephanopoulos isn't one of the moderators, but what the hell. Trump attacked him anyway as "a nasty guy." About the actual moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis, he said nothing.Trump said. He did however gratuitously add that Stephanopoulos' interview with Joe Biden was "the softest interview I've ever seen."
Fox News reports that Trump "indicated he might pull out of the scheduled debate" He could and he even might; that's another of his pursuits: dodging tough interviews. But Fox based its statement on merely Trump having said "I want to have a fair debate and you know, they can ask me tough questions. I don't mind. I think I've heard them all from you." You being Sean Hannity, so that was good for a laugh. He continued, "But, I think it's very unfair, the single worst network for unfairness."
He also tried to exposed collusion — something he knows a lot about. Kamala Harris' "best friend is the head" of ABC, said Trump. And Kamala's husband Doug is the "best friend" of Dana's husband, Matt Walden. It should be noted that both Dana and Matt once worked for Fox, and hubby has contributed to Democratic pols for decades. So his wife's friendship with Kamala is scarcely one of skulduggery — not that Trumpers can see that. More on collusion momentarily.
For good but utterly immaterial measure Trump also went after Donna Brazile: a "real beauty," he said in yet another of his usual pursuits: degrading women because of their looks. That from a guy who looks like a 1950s greaser and exhibits some unearthly color of skin. And from there?
Trump concluded with this. "I've already heard they're going to get the questions in advance." That's the Trumpian way of getting the real dope on an issue — hearing something, though I doubt he "heard" any such thing. But he worked it in as fact for his followers. And the spurious fact will become actual fact to Trumpers after Kamala uses him as a mop in the debate.
He's exactly what Obama said he is: a 78 year old billionaire who constantly whines about his problems. Somehow the whole world is rigged against a guy who was born with everything and has gotten away so much.
All projection all the time with this clown.
