A must-read to-do

I had planned on writing about the Trump regime's most recent hysteria — feigned, every bit of it — about former FBI director James Comey's photo post of some seashells by the seashore arranged to spell out "86 47." Oh my God he was calling for the assassination of the president! cried the children of the corn on Fox News — a double prevarication: there was no such encouragement and we have no president, only an infantile party boss.

I had more thoughts about Frenzy Central as the base operation for Trump's unremitting distractions from rather unfavorable news, such as — in only one day — his unavoidable confession that completing 90 tariff deals in 90 days is impossible, his three Supreme Court appointees joining the liberals in slapping him down over his illegal deportations, and Moody's downgrading of America's triple-A credit.

But, I put those thoughts on hold when, seemingly out of the blue, I recalled that January was the last time something akin to this appeared in this commentary:

Gentle readers: Ask not what this website can do for you - ask what you can do for this website.

I myself ask not that you pay any price or bear a financial burden to assure the survival and the success of this, I hope you agree, (usually) thoughtful commentary, offered almost daily. (Only recently, that is; there've been a few disruptive rough patches of late.)

I also hope you don't feel hoodwinked by the post title's "must-read" wording, as though herein you would find, say, Sen. Chris Murphy's premature yet essential announcement that he's running. For the big one. That, and this is my third and final hope, he'll do shortly after the '26 midterms. No, the must-read phrase was simply a must from where I sit.

And so I close, again, with this request for your support, which you can extend in one of two ways: Hie thee to the bottom of this page; alternatively, should you wish to spread out a donation a bit larger than is comfortable right now, go to my Substack page (PMC's Substack) where I cross-post and where can subscribe for only $8 a month.

In advance, I thank you.
