"The Longest Morning," starring "Duke" Trump

Circa 1:00 a.m., 24 June 2025, Trump, Truth Social: A ceasefire is "NOW IN EFFECT." We're talkin' "Complete and Total CEASEFIRE." "We have made PEACE abroad."

Circa 8:00 a.m., 24 June 2025, NYT: Trump begged Israel to recall its warplanes and not "DROP THOSE BOMBS" on Iran.

Trump, later: Israel "is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home. The Ceasefire is in effect! Thank you for your attention to this matter!"  

Having given its customary attention to the 1:00 a.m. matter, Israel dispatched warplanes to drop those bombs on Iran. Israel's prime madman, Bibi Netanyahu, gave the U.S.' chief psychopath, already named, no pre-bombing notice.

Netanyahu's ordering of the Totally Ceasedfiring attack on Tehran was done in tune with traditional bilateral harmony. He later issued a statement conveying the restrained essence of Israel having dropped a guided 500-pound bomb on a radar facility and its personnel (i.e., people).

Trump further described Israel's ceasefire restraint: "As soon as we made the deal, they came out and they dropped a load of bombs, the likes of which I’ve never seen before. The biggest load that we’ve seen."

Nonetheless, and rather curiously, in "expletive-laced remarks to reporters" this morning, Trump said he was "not happy" with America's Middle East partner in peace. Even more curiously, he said he would be “really unhappy” if Israel upped and done dropped yet another bomb on non-nuclear Iran, the globe's greatest existential threat.

Iran denied having started today's renewed ruckus with a bomb of its own. Ordinarily, claims of innocence belched by a repressive regime are dismissed as Bagdhah Bobish. But relative to Israel's genocidal regime and Goebbelesque propaganda ministry, Iran lends itself to looking as sweetly nonbelligerent as Switzerland.

At any rate, America's aspiring Nobel Peace prizer "said that the two adversaries didn’t know what they were doing." That bears repeating. Donald Trump "said the two adversaries didn’t know what they were doing."

Speaking of sur-prizes, the Times reports that "according to three diplomats briefed on the matter," it was Qatar that initially "intervened [on Trump's 'behalf'] and persuaded Iran to agree to a cease-fire with Israel." Trump "had asked for Qatar’s help" in a singular moment of knowing what he was doing.

Today he reiterated his previous "mission accomplished" theme, declaring that “Iran will never rebuild its nuclear [program].” No evidence of its destruction has emerged.

Also today, "Iran claimed victory, saying that its attacks had pressured Israel into accepting a truce."

The point of it all: America's military intervention changed not one thing.

Iran will continue its nuclear development program. Israel will continue yelping that its total annihilation by Iran is but seconds around the corner. And the United States will continue luxuriating Israel's ground arsenal and fleet of bombers so that now and then it can level a few port-a-potties adjacent to Iran's nuclear facilities — again portending a Strait of Hormuz shutdown, rattling markets and disrupting world trade— and persist in its unremitting genocide of neighboring Palestinians.

A final note of commonplace hairraising: "Trump’s comments came before he left Washington for a NATO summit."
